Lancaster, NH: Oliver E. Gilbert, 89, formerly of Rochester, NH, died Friday April 6, 2012 at the Country Village Nursing Home in Lancaster, NH after a period of failing health.
Mr. Gilbert was born Laconia, NH on September 7, 1922, the son of Emile and Mary (Blouin) Gilbert and lived in Rochester since 1925 and recently moving to Lancaster. He was a farmer for most of his life and retired from Thompson Center Arms in Rochester. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army, a member of the Knights of Columbus and loved playing horseshoes.
Surviving members of the family include: his wife Ann (Willette) Gilbert of Lancaster, NH, his children, Julie Gilbert of Manchester, NH, John Gilbert of Lancaster, NH, Jennifer Gilbert of Rochester, NH and James Gilbert Levant, ME, and seven grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to gather at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Rochester, NH for a Mass of Christian Burial, with burial in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that memorial donations be made to either St. Charles Children’s Home, 19 Grant Street, Rochester, NH 03867, or to Country Village Nursing Home, 91 Country Village Road, Lancaster, NH 03584.
